Sharad Pawar on His Security: Politics on security has heated up in Maharashtra, and it is difficult to understand the reason for it. Nationalist Congress Party (SP) chief Sharad Pawar has raised questions about his own security cover. He expressed apprehension and said that the 'Z Plus' security given to him could be a means of obtaining 'authentic information' about him.
Pawar has no information about increasing security
The Modi government at the Centre has provided Sharad Pawar with 'Z Plus' security. This is the highest level of security given to a VIP. When asked about the enhancement of his security, veteran politician and former Union minister Pawar told reporters in Navi Mumbai that he was not aware of the motive behind the move.
Sharad Pawar took a dig at getting 'Z Plus' security
Sharad Pawar said, 'A Home Ministry official told me that the government has decided to give 'Z Plus' security to three people and I am one of them... the other two are Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.' He quipped, 'Elections are coming near, so this could be a way to get authentic information about me.'
Understand the entire classification of VIP security
At present, it is difficult to say how long this politics started over the security cover will last. Assembly elections are to be held in Maharashtra this year, so all the political parties and big leaders have geared up. A contingent of 55 armed personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has been appointed for Sharad Pawar's 'Z Plus' security. The classification of VIP security starts with 'Z Plus' (highest), followed by 'Z', 'Y Plus', 'Y', and 'X'.
