May 14, 2024 (Tuesday)
- When there was an uproar over the incident, Sanjay Singh said that Bibhav Kumar had misbehaved with Maliwal.

May 15, 2024 (Wednesday)

May 18, 2024 (Saturday)
- Delhi Police has arrested Bibhav Kumar in the case of assault on Swati Maliwal.
- Bibhav Kumar had filed an anticipatory bail petition in Tis Hazari Court, which has been rejected.
- The medical report confirmed that Swati had injuries on her right eye, left leg, face, and head.

Kejriwal's PA Bibhav Kumar's connection with controversies
Bibhav Kumar has had a long association with controversies. Before his arrest in the Swati Maliwal assault case, Delhi Vigilance had taken action against him and issued a dismissal order. This action was taken against him in a 2007 case. Let us tell you, Bibhav has had a long association with controversies. Apart from the 2007 case, in the year 2017, he was also questioned by the Anti-Corruption Branch in the alleged tanker scam.

The 2007 controversy involving Bibhav Kumar came into the limelight when the Vigilance Department took action against him. Special Secretary YVVJ Rajasekhar passed an order on April 10, 2024, last month, dismissing him citing the 2007 case. In that case, Bibhav was accused of obstructing government work.

During the dismissal, it was told that in the year 2007, a government employee named Mahesh Pal had accused Bibhav of 'obstructing his work and misbehaving with him.' At that time, in its order, the Vigilance had said that the allegations against Bibhav Kumar were serious.
Is Bibhav Kumar also involved in the liquor scam?
In the month of April, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had questioned Vibhav Kumar and AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak in the money laundering case related to the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. Earlier in February also, the ED had questioned Vibhav and recorded his statement under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Inquiry has also been made regarding the tanker scam
The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) had also questioned Chief Minister Kejriwal's close aide Bibhav Kumar in the alleged tanker scam in the year 2017. In June 2015, the Kejriwal-led AAP government had constituted a committee to investigate the alleged irregularities in the purchase of about 285 stainless steel water tankers by the Delhi Jal Board. The government sent a report of this committee in June 2016 and later an FIR was registered in this case. In March 2024, another news related to this came that the ED has filed a court chargesheet in the Delhi Jal Board scam case.
Kejriwal's aide Bibhav Kumar gets bail
The Supreme Court on Monday granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's aide Bibhav Kumar in the attack case on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha member Swati Maliwal. A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan directed that Kumar will not be reinstated as Kejriwal's personal assistant nor will he be given any official charge in the Chief Minister's Office.

The court also barred Kumar from entering the chief minister's residence until all witnesses were examined. Bibhav Kumar had allegedly attacked Maliwal at Kejriwal's official residence on May 13. An FIR was registered against Bibhav Kumar on May 16 under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. Kumar was arrested on May 18.
Bibhav Kumar did not get bail from the High Court
The High Court, while denying him bail, had said that the accused is "highly influential" and no ground was made out to grant him relief. It had said that it cannot be ruled out that if the petitioner is granted bail, witnesses may be influenced or evidence may be tampered with.
