New Delhi. India and Australia are facing each other in the third Test at Brisbane's Gaba ground. The first day of this Test match was washed away by rain. If everything goes well, the second day's play will start half an hour earlier. That means the second day's play will start at 5:20 am on Sunday according to Indian time. Although rain is expected on the second day as well, there is no possibility of heavy rain like the first day. If the weather cooperates, 98 overs will be bowled in the second game. Local boy Usman Khawaja and young Nathan McSweeney played Jasprit Bumrah's first spell carefully using good defensive technique. But due to rain on the first day, only 13.2 overs could be bowled in which Australia scored 28 runs without any loss against India.

Due to bad weather, no play could take place after the first session. The weather department has predicted rain for the next four days as well. Khawaja is playing after scoring 19 runs in 47 balls and McSweeney is playing after scoring four runs in 33 balls. Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who won the toss and chose to bowl, will be happy that the Australian opening pair could not score many runs but his bowlers did not force the batsmen to play. The batsmen thought it appropriate to leave most of the balls. When it seemed that the Indian bowlers were in the mood to attack, it rained and the rhythm of the bowlers was broken.

Due to rain, the lunch break was taken early
and only 13.2 overs could be bowled in the first session. Earlier, India won the toss and decided to bowl. For India, Jasprit Bumrah gave eight runs in six overs while Mohammad Siraj gave 13 runs in four overs. This is Bumrah's most average opening spell in this series. Despite getting bounce from the pitch, he did not bowl many wicket-taking balls in his first spell of six overs while Siraj bowled mostly short-pitch balls. Khawaja taught him a lesson by hitting two fours. In the sixth over also, the game had to be stopped due to drizzle when the score was 19 runs.

The fast bowlers
were not getting swing from the pitch and Bumrah could trouble Khawaja only on a few occasions. Siraj was removed after the first spell of three overs and the ball was handed over to Akash Deep who gave two runs in 3.2 overs. In the first session, everyone's eyes were on how Khawaja plays Bumrah's balls. He used good technique and kept the bat close to the body. He played only those balls which were bowled on his body. He knows very well that after playing Bumrah's first spell calmly, he can put pressure on the rest of the bowlers. The five-match series is currently tied at 1-1.
