New Delhi. Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar was very upset with Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election. While expressing his anger over the results of the presidential election, he even forgot the limits of words and his words became harsh regarding Trump.

Speaking to news agency IANS, Mani Shankar Aiyar said, "I am very disappointed that a person, who has been declared a criminal by American courts and whose history includes visiting prostitutes and paying them money to keep them quiet, has been elected President of the most powerful country in the world."

Iyer also said, 'Personally, I believe that Donald Trump is not a good person. It is a different matter whether you ask what impact it will have on our politics, but when you look at his character, I have no doubt that the wrong person has been elected. This is my personal opinion.' He further said, 'It is really disappointing to see such a hateful person elected. I also regret that Kamala Harris did not win. If Kamala Harris had won, she could have become the first woman of America and the first President belonging to India. This would have been a historic and positive step.'

After this, he also reacted to the speculations of passing the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024 and the bill related to 'One Nation, One Election' in the winter session of Parliament starting this month. The Congress leader said, 'I am not looking into these issues very deeply because I am not a member of Parliament and my party has put me aside. I am not particularly interested in these details.' He said that the BJP government wants to show that they can change whatever they want without their consent. This would be wrong.

Iyer said, 'This is wrong because the proposal for change should be in their interest and should be with their consent.' He said that he has come to know through the media that Jagdambika Pal, the chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Wakf Bill, is perhaps not running the committee the way it should have been. Many opposition leaders have met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and complained about this. He said, "We will have to see what action Birla sahab takes in this matter."

He further said, 'As far as One Nation, One Election is concerned, I consider it completely wrong. The unity of this country lies in its diversity. The people of RSS and Sangh Parivar always try to reduce the diversity and create unity of the country on a Hindu identity. I am specifically from South India, and I do not think at all that we should adopt the same model in every matter, especially the one that has been adopted in North India.'
