Shubman Gill hits six in practice: Shubman Gill is leaving no stone unturned in preparing for India's upcoming domestic season as well as the international Test series. Gill was recently seen practicing at the IS Bindra PCA Stadium in Mohali. The 24-year-old Gill was wearing his Test jersey and hit the ball high, which made him look confident.
Gill has been given a huge responsibility on his shoulders as he has been made the vice-captain of India in ODI and T20 formats. He will also lead Team A in the Duleep Trophy tournament, which will begin in Bengaluru on September 5. He will captain a team that has the likes of KL Rahul, Riyan Parag, Mayank Agarwal, Tilak Verma, and Shivam Dubey.
Practicing on his home ground
Gill has been training hard at his home ground in Punjab ahead of India's domestic season. The Indian team is on a long break after the conclusion of their white-ball tour of Sri Lanka. The Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian team cleanly swept the 3-match T20 series. Meanwhile, the Rohit Sharma-led ODI side suffered a 0-2 defeat against Sri Lanka. Gill was the vice-captain of India and displayed an aggressive game in the shortest format but failed to impress in ODIs.
Shubman had a quiet bat in Tests last year, barring a hundred against Australia in Ahmedabad. Amid growing concerns over his form at the No. 3 position, which was previously held by Cheteshwar Pujara, Gill made a comeback in the 5-match Test series against England earlier this year. In 25 Tests, Gill scored 1492 runs at an average of 35.52, with four centuries and six fifties to his name.
