New Delhi. For online shopping and food delivery, you and I often go to platforms like Flipkart, Amazon, Zomato and Swiggy. But, do you know that there is a government e-commerce platform cheaper than these, from where you can order everything from groceries, gadgets to food. We are talking about the government-backed e-commerce platform ONDC, whose popularity is increasing day by day. The government said that more than 7 lakh sellers and service providers have joined its e-commerce platform ONDC so far.

The government-backed initiative 'Open Network for Digital Commerce' (ONDC) was launched in the year 2021. It was primarily set up to facilitate access of small sellers to digital commerce.

ONDC is helpful for small businessmen

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that ONDC has contributed to empowering small businesses and revolutionizing e-commerce. In his comment on a post by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, the Prime Minister said that in the last three years, this platform has empowered small enterprises by creating a level playing field for them.

Modi said, "ONDC has contributed to empowering small businesses and revolutionizing e-commerce. Thus it is playing a vital role in driving growth and prosperity." Goyal said in a post on the social media platform 'X' that in the last three years, the platform has empowered small enterprises by providing equal opportunities on the network.

ONDC aims to promote an open platform for all parties of retail e-commerce. It helps small retailers to expand their business by connecting to e-commerce and reduce the dominance of giants in this sector. ONDC, a non-government company, has so far crossed the mark of 15 crore transactions with more than 200 network participants.
