New Delhi. Tesla and SpaceX owner Elon Musk has donated 2,68,000 Tesla shares worth about $112 million (about Rs 960 crore). Documents filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) state that the shares have been donated to "some charity" as part of Musk's "year-end tax planning". It has not been disclosed which charity these shares have been donated to. The filing also states that the charity to which these shares have been given has no intention of selling these stocks.
This is not the first time Elon Musk has made a big donation. In 2022, he donated Tesla shares worth $1.95 billion (about Rs 16 thousand crores) between August and December. Similarly, in 2021, he donated Tesla shares worth $5.7 billion (about Rs 48 thousand crores). Musk donated these shares to his own foundation.
Elon Musk is the richest man in the world
Even after donating Tesla shares, Elon Musk remains the richest man in the world. According to Bloomberg, his total wealth is more than $ 415 billion (Rs 3.55 lakh crore). He still owns about 411 million Tesla shares through a trust established in 2003. According to a 2024 company report, Musk owned about 13% of Tesla's total shares as of last year.
Elon Musk's salary package has been rejected
Apart from Tesla, Elon Musk also owns companies like SpaceX and social media platform X. Tesla gave Elon Musk a huge compensation package in 2018. This came under controversy and the matter reached the court. The court rejected it. In December last year, a Delaware judge once again rejected Elon Musk's record-breaking compensation package at Tesla. According to the current value of Tesla's shares, the value of this compensation package is $101.4 billion.
