Mumbai. An incident of uprooting of railway track was reported on Tuesday 31 December between Virar-Nala Sopara railway station of Palghar district adjoining Mumbai, but a major accident was averted due to the presence of mind of the motorman. This major incident was witnessed on Tuesday on the up route of the fast line going from Virar to Mumbai. It was seen on the spot that the incident of bending of railway track was reported at one place. However, passengers faced a lot of trouble due to the incident of local train being stopped before the station.
However, a major accident was averted due to the intervention of the motorman of the AC local train. The picture of this bent railway track has also come to light now. This incident happened on Tuesday afternoon at 12.45 pm. When the AC local train from Virar came between Virar-Nalasopara station, the motorman noticed the bent track. He immediately stopped the local train and informed the senior officials about it. After this, a normal local train coming from behind was also stopped.
As soon as both the local trains stopped, many passengers got off the train and reached Nalasopara station on foot. The railway administration took immediate action and diverted the traffic on the fast track to the slow track. The railway employees worked on a war footing and completely replaced the bent track. After which traffic could be restored on the fast line. The railway administration, while talking about this, said that 'the work of finding out the real reason for the bending of the track is going on. Necessary steps will be taken to avoid such incidents in future.'
