New Delhi. Superstar Kamal Haasan's daughter Shruti Haasan has talked about the challenges her parents faced dealing with stardom during an interview. During this, she also made many interesting revelations. The actress has said that she even changed her name because of her father.
Kamal Haasan was in a relationship with actress Srividya before marrying Vani Ganpati. He dated Sarika while she was married and later married her. The superstar's romantic life also affected his daughter and actress Shruti Haasan, the effect of 2 marriages and 5 affairs was also seen on Kamal's daughter.
Shruti used to get irritated on hearing her father's name.
The actress, who played a strong role in 'Gabbar is Back', said that she used to get upset when people constantly asked her questions about her star father Kamal Haasan. To avoid this, she sometimes pretended to be unaware. The actress said that she is very proud of being the daughter of Sarika and Kamal Haasan, but in childhood, she often used to get irritated because, "People used to start asking about him (Kamal Haasan) after seeing me.
The actress further said that people used to point at me saying "Hey, she is Kamal's daughter and when someone asked me, I used to act ignorant and say no, my father is Dr. Ramachandran. This was the name
of our dentist and I am Pooja Ramachandran (I made this name myself)." Shruti also said that she always knew that her father was not an ordinary star but a big actor and it was quite challenging for her to avoid popularity while living in Chennai.
Shruti said that if there are posters of your famous Appa (father) everywhere, then it is difficult to separate yourself from his fame. Today I cannot even imagine Shruti Haasan (myself) without Kamal Haasan.
