New Delhi. India's Under 19 cricket team missed the Under 19 Asia Cup title for the second consecutive time. The Indian team, which reached the title match after winning 3 consecutive matches, lost its victory chariot in the final. Bangladesh defeated them by 59 runs and achieved the pride of becoming the champion for the second consecutive time while the Indian team had to be deprived of the trophy for the second consecutive time. India's bowlers performed well but the batsmen could not live up to the expectations. Team India's youngistan could not achieve the target of 199 runs. Opening was the life of the Indian team's batting but young openers Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre disappointed in the title match.
Bangladesh's Under 19 team had set a target of 199 runs for India in the final played in Dubai. India could score only 139 runs in 35.2 overs. Its start was not good and the team kept losing wickets continuously. India lost the wickets of both its openers at the score of 24 runs. Ayush Mhatre was bowled by Al Fahad on the score of one run and gave India the first blow. After this, Vaibhav Suryavanshi Maruf Mridha gave India the second blow by getting him caught by Mohammad Shihab. Suryavanshi was out after scoring 9 runs. Andre Siddharth was out after scoring 20 runs while KP Karthikeya contributed 21 runs. Nikhil Kumar could not even open the account while Harvansh Panghaliya returned to the pavilion after scoring 6 runs. Kiran Chormole was out after scoring one run. Captain Mohammad Aman returned to the pavilion after scoring 26 runs off 65 balls.
Indian bowlers bowled out Bangladesh for 198 runs
Earlier, due to the superb bowling of the Indian bowlers, India bowled out Bangladesh for 198 runs with 5 balls remaining. Rizan Hussain was dismissed after scoring 47 runs while Mohammad Shihab James was dismissed after scoring 40 runs. Wicketkeeper Farid Hasan scored 39 runs. Opener Jawad Abrar played an innings of 20 runs. From India's side, Yudhjit Guha, Chetan Sharma, and Hardik Raj took 2-2 wickets while Chormole, Kartikey, and Ayush Mhatre took one wicket each.
The Indian team failed to settle the score.
India entered the finals by defeating Sri Lanka by 7 wickets in the semi-finals, while Bangladesh entered the title match by defeating Pakistan. India lost only one match out of its four in the league, while Bangladesh also lost its only league match to Sri Lanka. Bangladesh had won the title last time too by defeating India in the finals. This time the Indian team came to take revengforof the previous defeat, but the Indian team failed.
