The Indian hockey team has defeated England 4-2 in the shootout. The score of both was equal at 1-1 till full-time. But on the strength of PR Sreejesh in the shootout, India has entered the semi-finals. India has entered the semi-finals of hockey in the Olympics for the second consecutive time. Earlier, India had also reached the semi-finals in the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Then India won the bronze medal. This time too, there are expectations of a medal from Team India. 

No goal was scored in the first quarter

Both India and Great Britain performed brilliantly in the first quarter and made several attempts to score goals. But none of the teams had success. In the first quarter, PR Sreejesh saved several excellent goals scored by Great Britain. India also got penalty corners. But the Indian team could not score a goal. In this way, the first quarter remained goalless. 

Harmanpreet Singh scored the goal

In the second quarter, the Indian hockey team played aggressively and created many chances to score goals. In this quarter, Indian player Amit Rohidas was shown a red card. After this, the Indian team played the rest of the match with 10 players. Captain Harmanpreet Singh's strong performance continued for the Indian team in this match as well. He scored a goal in the 22nd minute. But after this, Great Britain's Lee Morton scored a goal. Due to this, Britain equaled the match 1-1. India was playing with 10 players, so it seemed that the Great Britain team would win the match easily. But PR Sreejesh did not let any goal happen. 

After the match remained tied at 1-1 till the stipulated time, a penalty shootout was held. Captain Harmanpreet Singh, Sukhjeet Singh, Lalit Upadhyay ,and Rajkumar Pal scored goals for India. While PR Sreejesh saved two shots of England. He proved to be the biggest hero in India's victory. He became a big wall between Britain and the goal. It is because of him that Team India was able to reach the semi-finals.
