Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha recently opened up about her strict upbringing, revealing that even as a working professional, she had to follow a curfew at home. In a candid chat with Hauterfly, she shared how her mother kept a close watch on her late-night outings and how she found ways to work around the system.

"I Had a Curfew Until I Was 32"

Sonakshi disclosed that her curfew lasted until she was 32 years old, even after she became an established actress.

“I had a curfew of 1:30 am after I started working. Till I was 32, it was the same. Zaheer had the biggest problem with it. Whenever I broke the curfew, it was because of him only, and then I used to get schooled for it.”

She humorously admitted that her rumored boyfriend Zaheer Iqbal often played a role in her breaking the curfew, which led to her getting reprimanded at home.

A Home Like a Fortress

Describing her family home, ‘Ramayana’, Sonakshi compared it to a fortress with a strict surveillance system in place.

"I lived on the 10th floor, and my mom and dad lived on the fifth floor. We had a very strict telephone operator, Mr. Jha. The minute my car would enter the premises, he would call my parents and inform them that ‘baby has arrived’.”

Despite trying to bypass the system, she said her mother always found a way to check on her.

"My Mom Would Always Find Out"

Sonakshi shared how she tried to trick the operator into not informing her parents about her return but ultimately failed.

“A couple of times, I told my man Friday to ask the operator not to call my parents. But my mom would still question me the next day about what time I got home. That’s when I knew Jha didn’t call them, so I used to lie. It’s the story of every household.”

She also revealed that her mother frequently invoked her father’s name to keep her in check.

“They would start calling from midnight, asking where I was. They would scold me, saying it didn’t look nice. My mom would say, ‘What would your father think?’ or that she would complain to him. But my father is the chillest person in the world. He has never scolded me.”

Learning from Each Other

Beyond the curfews and house rules, Sonakshi acknowledged the generational gap between her and her mother. She noted how both have learned from each other over time.

“My mom tried a lot to mould me into someone who doesn’t back-answer because that’s how she was raised. But times have changed, and I teach her things too.”

Sonakshi’s revelations highlight the challenges of growing up in a traditional yet modern household, proving that no matter how famous one gets, family rules remain constant.
