Farhan Akhtar wanted to cast Hrithik Roshan

During a conversation on the Raj Shamani podcast, Farhan Akhtar revealed that he had worked with Hrithik Roshan in the film Lakshya, where he and the actor became very good friends. After this, he approached Hrithik Roshan and told him about his plan to remake Don. In response to this, Hrithik also told him that this idea sounded 'great'.

Farhan had then told Hrithik that once he wrote it, he would bring it to him. However, the actor said that when he was writing this film, only Shah Rukh Khan's name was echoing in his mind. He said, 'When I was writing, the only person whose face was echoing in my mind was Shah Rukh.' That is why Farhan casts Shah Rukh Khan instead of Hrithik in the film.
