New Delhi. Mumbai has announced its 17-member team for the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament. Mumbai has made Shreyas Iyer the captain of the team. The tournament will be held from 23 November to 15 December. Prithvi Shaw has returned to the team, he was recently dropped from Mumbai's Ranji team due to being overweight. The team also includes Ajinkya Rahane, who is captaining Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy. The first part of the Ranji competition has recently ended. Also, returning batsman Siddhesh Lad is also included in the team. Suryakumar Yadav's name is not in Mumbai's team. Due to personal reasons, Surya will be unavailable for the first few matches.
Shreyas Iyer is in great form in this Ranji Trophy season. And he wants to make a comeback in the Indian team. He has scored 452 runs at an average of 90.40 which includes two centuries. All the centuries that Iyer has scored this year are big centuries. This right-handed batsman played a quick innings of 233 runs (228 balls, 24 fours, nine sixes) against Odisha and then played an important role in Mumbai's two consecutive victories by scoring 142 runs (190 balls, 12 fours, four sixes) against Maharashtra.
The team includes 25-year-old Prithvi Shaw, who was dropped from the Ranji Trophy team due to fitness and disciplinary issues. Spin bowling all-rounder Tanush Kotian, who was part of India A's unofficial Test in Australia, has also been included in the Mumbai team along with experienced all-rounder Shardul Thakur.
