America won a total of 126 medals including 40 gold, 44 silver, and 42 bronze medals in the Paris Olympics. China, which was in second place, won a total of 91 medals including 40 gold. Both China and America won 40 gold medals each but China could only win 27 silver and 24 bronze medals. That is why despite winning 40 gold medals, it had to settle for second place.

Japan remained in third place

Japan was in the third position in the medal table. Japan won a total of 45 medals including 20 gold, 12 silver, and 13 bronze medals. Australia was in the fourth position with 18 gold, 19 silver, and 16 bronze medals. Host France was able to win a total of 53 medals including 16 gold, 19 silver, and 16 bronze medals, and remained at the fifth position in the medal table.

India ranked 71st

India finished 71st in the medal tally with one silver and five bronze medals in the Paris Olympics. India won three medals in shooting, one in athletics, one in wrestling, and one in hockey. Neighboring country Pakistan finished 62nd in the points table thanks to Arshad Nadeem's gold medal in the javelin throw. In the Tokyo Olympics, India was successful in winning a total of seven medals including one gold, two silver, and four bronze medals, and finished 48th in the medal tally. Compared to Tokyo, India has lost 23 places in the medal tally.

America was also on top in Tokyo

The US, which topped the Tokyo Olympics, won a total of 113 medals including 39 gold, 41 silver, and 33 bronze. China finished second by winning a total of 89 medals including 38 gold, 32 silver, and 19 bronze. Both performed better than Tokyo in Paris and increased the number of their medals. China narrowly missed defeating the US.
