PAK vs BAN 2nd Test: The first day of the second Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Friday was abandoned without a toss due to persistent rain and a wet outfield. Bangladesh leads the two-Test series 1-0 after winning the first Test in Rawalpindi by ten wickets against Pakistan, making it their first win over the hosts in the longest format of the game.

There has been some rain in Rawalpindi since last night, which led to the formation of puddles on the outfield despite the covers being put in place. Both teams and match officials remained in their hotels as the rain intensified and eventually, the day's play had to be called off.

Pakistan needs to win the second Test match to level the two-match series against Bangladesh. Weather forecasts have shown that the skies will be clear in Rawalpindi on Saturday and Sunday, but there will be sporadic rain and thunderstorms again on the last two days of the second Test match.

A draw in the second Test in Rawalpindi will give Bangladesh a historic first Test series win over Pakistan. Both teams are at the bottom of the 2023-2025 World Test Championship standings, with Bangladesh at number seven and Pakistan at number eight, just above last-placed West Indies. Pakistan has not won a home Test match since beating South Africa in December 2021.

The Shan Masood-led team has dropped left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi from its 12-member squad for the second Test, while including pacer Mir Hamza and leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed.
