Onion Export : The ongoing violence in Bangladesh has started affecting the onion trade in Maharashtra. The situation is such that many onion trucks from Nashik are stuck at the India-Bangladesh border. It is estimated that 70 to 80 trucks are stuck near the Bangladesh border. Recently, the Indian government had allowed the export of 80 thousand tons of onion to Bangladesh. After that, a large consignment of onion was sent to Bangladesh for export from Nashik, the country's largest onion market. Actually, due to the situation on the border, the movement of trucks to Bangladesh has stopped. Due to this, the fear of onion stock getting spoiled has also increased.

Food became expensive due to increase in onion prices

Meanwhile, due to the increase in the price of vegetables like onion, tomato and potato in July, the cost of food at home has increased. According to the report of Crisil, vegetarian thali has become 11 percent expensive. Onion has played an important role in this. The price of onion has increased by 20 percent. If onion is not supplied in Bangladesh, then this onion will be used in the Indian market only. In such a situation, prices may fall in the domestic market. However, a new challenge will arise for the farmers.
