New Delhi. The Test series between India and Australia is going to start from November 22. Predictions have started being made about which player can shine in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Former Australia captain Aaron Finch believes that the role of Rishabh Pant and Alex Carey will be important in deciding the result. While former Australia wicketkeeper Brad Haddin feels that the Indian batsmen will have to struggle against the Australian fast bowlers. Finch feels that both wicketkeepers have the ability to bring their teams back when the top order fails.
Aaron Finch said on the 'Willow Talk Podcast', 'I think Alex Carey and Rishabh Pant can be important. The role of both these wicketkeepers is going to be very important. When the top-order batsmen are not able to perform at any time in the series, the role of Alex and Rishabh will become important. Both of them play the fast bowling attack well. That's why I think Alex at number seven and Rishabh at number six can play an important role.'
'Alex Carey and Rishabh Pant are aggressive'
Both Pant and Carey, who played a key role in India's victory in the last series, are known for their aggressive batting. Finch said, 'Carey is aggressive, Rishabh is aggressive. The game will really move fast in one or two directions and I think that will be very important.' On the other hand, Haddin believes that the fast bowling trio of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood will trouble the Indian batsmen on bouncy pitches.
'Rahul or Abhimanyu Easwaran can start the innings'
He said, 'I don't think the Indian batsmen will be able to stand against our fast bowlers.' If Indian captain Rohit Sharma is unable to play in the first Test match starting in Perth on November 22, then KL Rahul or Abhimanyu Easwaran can start the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal. Jaiswal has established himself as one of the aggressive Test openers. He has so far scored 1,407 runs in 14 matches at an impressive average of 56.28, which includes three centuries and eight half-centuries. His highest score is 214 not out.
'It is very difficult to start the innings in Perth'
Brad Haddin feels that the real test of this young opener will be in Australia. He said, 'I know Jaiswal is a good batsman but he has never toured Australia before. So it remains to be seen how he performs on bouncy pitches. It is very difficult to start the innings in Perth.'
