Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa announced that starting April 1, petrol stations will stop supplying fuel to vehicles older than 15 years. This move aims to curb vehicular emissions and reduce pollution levels in the city.

The decision follows a high-level meeting on air pollution control, where officials discussed policies like stricter vehicle restrictions, mandatory anti-smog measures, and a push toward electric public transport.

Key Measures Announced:

  • Fuel Ban on Older Vehicles: Petrol pumps will use technology to identify vehicles over 15 years old and deny fuel.
  • Anti-Smog Guns for Buildings: High-rises, hotels, and commercial complexes must install anti-smog guns.
  • Electric Bus Transition: 90% of Delhi’s public CNG buses will be phased out by December 2025 in favor of electric buses.

Sirsa also mentioned that the Delhi government will formally inform the Union Ministry of Petroleum about the fuel restriction.
