The New Zealand team has reached Greater Noida to play the only Test match against Afghanistan. This match is to be played from 9 September at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex. This is the first time a Test match is going to be played between these two.
All the star players of New Zealand are part of the team for this match. The New Zealand team is looking at this match as a preparation for the series against India. The captain of New Zealand is fast bowler Tim Southee while the team includes stalwarts like former captain Kane Williamson, Devon Conway, Glenn Phillips, and Rachin Ravindra.
Five spinners have been included in the New Zealand team for this match against Afghanistan. New Zealand will have its first practice session on Friday. This match will be important for the preparation for the two-match series against Sri Lanka.
After the Sri Lanka tour, the New Zealand team will play a three-Test series in India which will be part of the World Test Championship cycle. These three matches will be played in Bengaluru, Pune, and Mumbai in October-November.
