New Delhi. American streaming company Netflix's troubles are going to increase. In fact, Reuters has said, citing a government email, that the Indian government is investigating allegations of visa violations, tax evasion, and racial discrimination against OTT platform Netflix India. This email was sent to former Netflix official Nandini Mehta.

According to a Reuters report, this email was written on July 20 by Deepak Yadav, an officer of the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) of the Home Ministry. The email reads, "This is regarding visa and tax violation concerns regarding Netflix's business practices in India. We have received some details about the company's conduct, visa violations, illegal structures, tax evasion, and other irregularities, including incidents of racial discrimination."

The company said this.
A Netflix spokesperson told Reuters that the company is not aware of the investigation being conducted by the Indian government. Deepak Yadav declined to comment. The Foreigners Regional Registration Office and India's Home Ministry did not respond to Reuters' questions.

Mehta's lawsuit
Mehta left the company in 2020. In 2021, Mehta filed a lawsuit against the company in Los Angeles County Superior Court for wrongful termination and racial and gender discrimination. The company has denied the allegations in court.

1 crore users in India
It is worth noting that Netflix has around 10 million or 1 crore users in India.
