Milkipur: The way for a by-election on the Milkipur assembly seat in Ayodhya, UP has been cleared. Today, the petition filed by Baba Gorakhnath was rejected in the Lucknow Bench of the High Court. Baba Gorakhnath himself had applied to the High Court to withdraw his petition, hence his application was rejected. Due to the pending election petition filed in the High Court by former BJP MLA Baba Gorakhnath, the Election Commission had not announced the date of the Milkipur by-election.
Gorakhnath had challenged the election of SP's Awadhesh Prasad from the Milkipur assembly seat in 2022. In which he cited discrepancies in the nomination papers. Baba Gorakhnath had filed an application in the High Court to withdraw the election petition. After Awadhesh Prasad was elected from the Ayodhya Lok Sabha seat this year, the Milkipur assembly seat fell vacant.
By-elections have been held in 9 assembly constituencies. In which SP suffered a big blow, BJP won 7 seats and SP won only 2 seats. While SP candidates won in Karhal and Sisamau seats, BJP won in Katehari, Ghaziabad, Khair, Phulpur, Majhawan, Meerapur and Kundriki. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's magic worked well in the by-elections. The effect of his slogan 'If it is divided, it will be cut off...' was visible.
Bharatiya Janata Party also won the Kundarki and Katehari seats of the Samajwadi Party. NA's new history has been written on both these seats. Let us tell you that the JP was not able to win in Katehari for more than three decades. On the other hand, the BJP won in the Muslim-dominated area of Kundarki after 31 years.
