Kolkata Rape-Murder Case: CBI investigation is going on in the case of rape and murder of a female doctor in Kolkata's RG Kar College and Hospital. Anger is being seen across the country regarding this case. Meanwhile, the victim's parents expressed confidence in the CBI investigation on Friday. They said that they may join the protest of the students of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, where their daughter's body was found on August 9.

'Trust in CBI'

"From the very beginning we felt that the (state) administration and police were trying to protect someone, trying to hide something because a single person cannot commit such a crime," the doctor's father told reporters at his residence in North 24 Parganas district. The doctor's mother said they did not find Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goel's statement reassuring. "We felt they were not investigating comprehensively. They were in a hurry," the doctor's mother said.

Let us tell you that a day after the body was found in the seminar hall of the hospital, Kolkata Police arrested a person. On August 13, the Calcutta High Court handed over the investigation of this case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The victim's father said, "Kolkata Police tried to mislead us... We have faith in the CBI investigation." He said that he may join the doctors' protest at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. He said, "We will decide about this in the coming days."

How far has the CBI investigation reached

Meanwhile, the Calcutta High Court on Friday ordered the transfer of the investigation into alleged financial irregularities in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the state government to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). This decision has been taken after the petition of the former Deputy Superintendent of the hospital Akhtar Ali, who had requested the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to investigate the alleged financial irregularities during the tenure of former Principal of the college Sandeep Ghosh.

According to the information, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is focusing on how the crime was committed without any hindrance in the hospital auditorium whose door latch was found broken. The official said that CBI officials are also trying to find out if there was any person posted outside the auditorium to ensure that there was no hindrance in carrying out the crime. He said that the investigating officers are analyzing the CCTV footage to confirm this.

The CBI team is investigating from every angle

The investigating officers also expressed surprise as to why no one heard any sound from inside the auditorium when the doctor was being tortured. The CBI officer said, "The latch of the door was broken, due to which the door was not closing properly. We are investigating whether someone was present outside the auditorium during the crime." The officer said that the initial investigation had revealed that the door was out of order for some time due to the broken latch. He said that the victim entered the auditorium between 2 and 3 am on the night of August 8-9 and a doctor on duty saw her sleeping in the auditorium.

He said, "Interrogation of doctors, interns, and junior doctors revealed that everyone knew that the latch of the door was faulty and due to this the doctor was not able to close the door that night." CBI continued the interrogation of the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital Sandeep Ghosh in the case on Friday as well. Apart from this, the agency presented the arrested suspect Sanjay Roy in the court. The court sent him to 14 days of judicial custody.
