New Delhi: Actress Khushi Kapoor, who made her debut with The Archies in 2023, is now stepping into Bollywood with her first Hindi film, Loveyappa, alongside Junaid Khan, son of Aamir Khan.

Coming from a family of Bollywood legends, including her mother, the late Sridevi, and sister Janhvi Kapoor, Khushi has often been compared to their beauty and acting skills. While her performance continues to evolve, she recently opened up about her struggles with self-esteem and the pressure to meet unrealistic beauty standards.

Khushi Kapoor on Her Self-Esteem Struggles

During promotions for Loveyappa, Khushi candidly discussed her insecurities growing up and the impact of public perception on her self-image. In a conversation with The Indian Express, she revealed that she was bullied for her looks at a young age, often being told she didn’t resemble her mother or sister.

"I took a keen interest in vanity and wanting to look a certain way. I don’t think that’s a bad thing, especially because I knew these were things people were pointing out. And I felt a certain way about it."

On Beauty Procedures and Public Judgment

Khushi clarified that while she chose to enhance her appearance, she does not endorse beauty procedures for everyone. Addressing rumors about cosmetic enhancements, she stated that she hasn’t undergone as many procedures as people assume.

She also called out the public’s hypocrisy, pointing out how she was bullied for not looking a certain way, but is now criticized for making changes to her appearance.

"I was made fun of for my ‘bad’ looks before, and now I’m criticized for admitting that I’ve had work done. There’s no winning, so I’ve decided to just focus on my craft and work hard."

With this newfound mindset, Khushi Kapoor is choosing to shift her focus towards improving her acting skills, determined to carve her own identity in Bollywood beyond just her looks.
