Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut and renowned lyricist Javed Akhtar have officially resolved their long-standing legal battle through mediation. The two even posed together for a happy picture, signaling the end of their feud.
Taking to Instagram Stories, Kangana announced the resolution, calling Javed Akhtar “kind and gracious” during the process. She also revealed that he has agreed to write songs for her next directorial project.
Javed Akhtar on the Settlement: "I Only Wanted an Apology"
In a recent interview with Aaj Tak, Javed Akhtar confirmed the settlement, stating:
"Yes, the cases have been settled. She has taken back her words and allegations. She has committed that she would never repeat them again. She has apologized for all the inconvenience caused to me. She also withdrew her case."
Akhtar clarified that he never sought financial compensation in the case:
"Maine paise toh maange nahi the, apology chaiyeh thi, jo mil gai."
(I didn’t ask for any money; I only wanted an apology, which I have received.)
When asked if he felt relieved after the settlement, he jokingly replied:
"Nahi, ab dekhta hun. Koi doosri pareshani mul lunga."
(No, now I will see. I might take on some other challenge.)
The Legal Battle: A Recap
The conflict began in 2020, when Javed Akhtar filed a defamation case against Kangana. He alleged that her statements in a TV interview had tarnished his reputation. In response, Kangana filed a counter-complaint, accusing him of intimidation.
After years of legal proceedings, both parties have now withdrawn their respective cases, choosing to move forward peacefully.
Kangana Ranaut’s Statement
After the settlement, Kangana shared a picture with Javed Akhtar on Instagram, captioning it:
"Today, Javed ji and I have resolved our legal matter (defamation case) through mediation. In the mediation, Javed ji has been very kind and gracious. He has also agreed to write songs for my next directorial."
The unexpected turn of events has come as a pleasant surprise to fans, as the two Bollywood figures have now mended their differences and are even collaborating on a project.
Moving Forward: A New Collaboration?
With Javed Akhtar agreeing to write songs for Kangana’s next film, this settlement might not just mark the end of a legal dispute but the beginning of a new creative partnership.
While their past clashes were widely publicized, this reconciliation highlights a rare instance in Bollywood where disputes are resolved with mutual respect and understanding.
