New Delhi. India announced the 15-member team for the upcoming 3-match Test series against New Zealand late on Friday night. Fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah has been made the vice-captain of the team. The first Test match of the series will be played in Bengaluru from 16-20 October, while the second Test match will be played in Pune from 24 October, and the third and last Test match will be played in Mumbai from 1 November. Experienced Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and young Sarfaraz Khan have got a chance while four players have been kept as reserves.
India recently clean-swept Bangladesh in a 2-match Test series at home. After playing a series against New Zealand, Team India will tour Australia where it has to play a 5-match Test series. The Indian and Australian teams will face each other under the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The players who have been selected as reserves for the series against New Zealand include fast bowler Harshit Rana, all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, pacer Mayank Yadav, and Prasidh Krishna. The team has been reduced to 15 in which 'uncapped' left-arm fast bowler Yash Dayal was ruled out after suffering a shoulder injury during Uttar Pradesh's Ranji Trophy match against Bengal in Lucknow. He was part of the Bangladesh Test series.
