New Delhi. Punjab Kings have retained two players in the team for the next IPL season and one of them is Shashank Singh. Shashank said that he would prove to the team owners that their decision was right by playing brilliantly in 2025. Last season, Shashank performed brilliantly as an excellent 'finisher' for Punjab Kings. He scored 354 runs at a strike rate of 164.65 and was the top run scorer for the team. Shashank is an 'uncapped' player.
After Punjab Kings announced the retention of the players in the team, Shashank said, “I am grateful to the franchise because they have given me a chance again and have shown faith in me. I will always be grateful for the opportunity they have given me. Now it is my job to prove them right.”
In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction, Punjab Kings bought the 'uncapped' Shashank at his 'base price' of Rs 20 lakh. But then claimed that it was a mistake. Later the team clarified that the confusion arose because there was another player with the same name in the auction list.
This cricketer from Chhattisgarh once again showed his ability by scoring an unbeaten 61 off just 29 balls against the strong bowling attack of Gujarat Titans. He said, "As a cricketer you have to give your 100 percent, only then you are in the team. The way Punjab Kings and fans have shown faith in me, it is my responsibility to make my performance twice as good so that we can be in the race for the championship title. "
