IND vs SL: Rohit Sharma urged Indian batsmen to 'seriously think' about their individual plans against spin bowling after India lost their first bilateral ODI series in 27 years against Sri Lanka with a 110-run defeat in the third ODI on Wednesday. Chasing a target of 249, India were bundled out for just 138 in 26.1 overs. Sri Lankan spinners once again wreaked havoc with Dunitha Welalage taking five for 27 while Maheesh Theekshana and Jeffrey Vandersay taking two wickets each.

Asked about India's struggles against spin, Rohit said after the match, "I don't think it's a concern but it's something we need to seriously look at - our individual game plans - and it's something (that) we were definitely under pressure with in this series."

Rohit said losing the series is not the 'end of the world' but it gives a lot to work on for the team that is looking to make it to the 2023 World Cup final.

Rohit is not disappointed after losing the series

The Indian captain said, "Losing a series does not mean the end of the world. These players have been playing very well for the last few years, consistently. You will lose some series. " He said, "We lost the series and I think we need to focus on many areas rather than positive aspects. We have to go back and see what we have to do when we face such situations. "

India had earlier defeated Sri Lanka 3-0 in the T20 International series. The Indian captain admitted that his team did not perform well.

Rohit said, "We did not play good cricket throughout the series and that is why we are standing here. There were some positive things in the whole series. He said, "The way the spinners bowled, some batsmen in the middle as well."

Sri Lanka captain's reaction

Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka admitted that he was 'happy' after leading his team to a series win over India. "I am a happy captain right now and I think the team did all the things well throughout the series. We all knew that their batting was very strong and we just wanted to play to our strength which is spin bowling," he said. "We are in a really good mood right now, especially our coach (Sanath Jayasuriya). He made some changes in the team and the boys really enjoyed the team atmosphere," Asalanka said.
