The second Test match between India and Bangladesh started in Kanpur on Friday, 27 September. After an easy win in Chennai, Team India entered the Kanpur Test with the intention of clean-sweeping Bangladesh. Now the hope was that Team India would easily win this Test as well, but what happened on the first day of the game has given Team India tension for the future, let alone victory. On the first day of the Kanpur Test, only 35 overs could be played due to rain and poor light and there is a possibility of a similar situation on the next two days of the match, which is not good news for Team India in terms of the World Test Championship final.

The day ended in just 35 overs.

The match started on Friday at Kanpur's Green Park Stadium, but what was feared two-three days ago, happened. Bad weather kept interfering right from the beginning of the match. Even the match started with an hour's delay due to the wet ground. Then when the first session was played, it rained again, due to which the play after lunch also started with a delay of 15 minutes. Only 9 overs were bowled in the second session as well, when the game was stopped due to poor light and then it was decided to end the day's play due to heavy rain. Overall, only 35 overs were played on the first day, in which Bangladesh, batting first, scored 107 runs after losing 3 wickets.

The weather is not good for the next two days.

Now there are 4 days of play left in the test, in which the result can still come, but the whole problem is here. Heavy rain is expected in Kanpur for the next two days as well. According to the forecast of AccuWeather, there will be heavy rain in Kanpur on Friday-Saturday midnight. At the same time, heavy rain is also expected from 9 am to 10 am on Saturday. Overall, 80 percent rain is expected on Saturday. The problem is that there will be no relief even after this.

On Sunday, September 29, i.e. the third day of the Test match, the rain will continue. There is a possibility of rain at the time of the match starting in the morning on that day as well. In such a situation, a large part of this match will certainly be lost to rain and bad weather, due to which the chances of a result will decrease. While Bangladesh will benefit from this, because it can avoid a clean sweep, Team India may have to suffer the consequences.

WTC will be affected

The question is to make it to the final of the World Test Championship. Currently, Team India is at number one in this race. At present, the team's point percentage is 71.67, but if this match is drawn due to rain, then both teams will get 4-4 points. In such a situation, the team's points will decrease to 68.18 percent. This can affect the race for the final. Team India needs to win at least half of its remaining matches to reach the final for the third consecutive time.

Before this series, India had 10 test matches left, in which it needed to win at least 5 matches. It has won one of these against Bangladesh. After this, 3 test matches are to be played against New Zealand, in which Team India is expected to clean sweep. After this, Team India has to play 5 Tests on the Australia tour and it is not certain how many matches it will win there. Therefore, Team India should win all its 5 Tests at home before the Australia tour, but the rain in Kanpur can spoil its hopes.
