Atal Bihari Vajpayee : Tributes were paid to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with ministers of the government and BJP leaders, reached the former PM's samadhi that Sadhev Atal on Friday morning and paid their emotional tributes. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Zeenat Ram Manjhi, and Vajpayee's adopted daughter Namita Kaul Bhattacharya paid tribute to the former PM. Vajpayee died on 16 August 2018 at AIIMS, Delhi after a long illness. Many NDA leaders also reached 'Sadaiv Atal' to pay tribute.

Vajpayee was the 'Ajatashatru' of politics

Vajpayee played a very important role in establishing BJP as a political party. He became the PM of the country thrice and completed his term once. Vajpayee's tenure is known for many achievements. Born on 25 December 1924 in Gwalior

Vajpayee was born on December 25, 1924, in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. He left journalism in 1951 to join the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the present-day BJP, formerly known as the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, which is an integral part of the National Democratic Alliance. He also wrote many poems. Over the past several decades, he emerged as a leader who valued liberal thinking toward the world and commitment to democratic ideals.

He was active in politics for nearly four decades.

On 13 October 1999, he assumed the post of Prime Minister of India for the second consecutive time as the head of the new coalition government of the National Democratic Alliance. He became Prime Minister for a very short time in 1996. Vajpayee remained active in politics for four decades. He was elected nine times to the Lok Sabha (House of the People) and twice to the Rajya Sabha (House of States), which is a record in itself. Despite international pressure, in the year 1998, he conducted nuclear weapons tests for the security of the country.
