Paris: The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) accepted wrestler Vinesh Phogat's appeal against her disqualification before the final match at the Olympics. After this, the case was to be heard on Thursday evening. For the hearing of the case, CAS has given time to Vinesh to appoint a lawyer. The Court of Arbitration for Sport had offered Vinesh the free service of its four lawyers Joel Monluis, Estelle Ivanova, Habin Estelle Kim, and Charles Amson. But Vinesh's team wanted an Indian lawyer and sought time from the court for this. In such a situation, the court accepted their demand and adjourned the hearing for the next day i.e. Friday.

The hearing will be held on Friday at 1:30 pm

According to media reports, the hearing of the Vinesh Phogat case will be held on Friday at 1:10 pm. The Government of India has been asked to appoint a senior lawyer who will represent Vinesh and demand that she be awarded the joint silver medal. It is not clear at the moment who will be the lawyer.

What is Vinesh's demand from the court?

Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the gold medal match of the women's 50 kg freestyle wrestling event. A few hours before the final, Vinesh's weight was found to be 100 grams more than the prescribed limit. According to the rules, Vinesh came at the bottom of her category and was not given any medal. In such a situation, on Wednesday, Vinesh challenged this decision in the Court of Arbitration for Sports and demanded that she be declared the joint winner of the silver medal.

100 grams of weight took away the Olympic medal

Vinesh had won all three of her bouts on Tuesday. After three bouts in a single day, Vinesh was given energy food to compensate for the loss of vital fluids in the body, after which Vinesh's weight was increasing faster than expected. She worked hard to lose weight overnight with her coach, support staff, and the Indian team's chief medical officer, but she failed as she was 100 grams overweight. In an attempt to lose weight overnight, Vinesh was so dehydrated that she had to be admitted to the polyclinic of the Games Village for an IV drip.
