Haryana Elections: Only a few days are left for voting for Haryana Assembly elections. The main contest is between the ruling BJP and Congress. Congress is expecting a lot from the elections to be held on October 5. But, factionalism within the party is at its peak. The party is mainly divided into two camps in the state. Due to this factionalism, senior state leader and Sirsa MP Kumari Selja stayed away from campaigning for a few days. Later, the issue was resolved on the initiative of party president Mallikarjun Kharge. Then Kumari Selja has returned to campaigning.
Meanwhile, the leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, reached Karnal for the first time on Thursday to campaign for the Haryana assembly elections. During this, Kumari Selja was sitting on the right side of Rahul Gandhi's stage, and Bhupinder Singh Hooda was on the left. Both of them are powerful leaders of the state. During this, Rahul Gandhi was seen chatting with both the leaders. Once he was seen saying something in Kumari Selja's ear and the other time he was seen talking to Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
Congress' strategy
Those who know Congress closely are saying that the party is focusing more on local issues in this election. For this reason, it is not involving the party's central leadership in the campaign. This strategy has been adopted based on the party's internal report. The party's strategists believe that this election should not be made PM Modi vs Rahul Gandhi under any circumstances. Rather, the focus should be on people's anger towards the state government. Therefore, the party is not raising any national issue here with much vigor.
Strong high command
Meanwhile, after the results of the Lok Sabha elections, the central leadership of the Congress party i.e. the high command has become relatively stronger. The party has got 99 seats in the Lok Sabha. Along with this, Rahul Gandhi's tours to India have also improved his image. Political pundits are considering the Congress party's achievement of getting around 100 seats by directly fighting against PM Modi at the center as a big achievement. Otherwise, due to the weakness of the central leadership during the last 10 years, it was not able to control its leaders at the state level. Whether it was Madhya Pradesh or Rajasthan... the weakness of the central leadership of the party was clearly seen everywhere.
Haryana elections and high command
But, the high command of the party is looking different in the Haryana elections. It pacified the dispute that arose within the party without any major uproar. Then both the leaders were seen sitting on the stage with Rahul Gandhi. During this, Rahul Gandhi whispered something into Kumari Selja's ear. However, then he also talked to Bhupinder Singh Hooda. But, Rahul making Kumari Selja sit on the stage at par with Bhupinder Singh Hooda sends a lot of messages.
There is a tradition within the Congress party. Whenever the party wins in any assembly, a resolution is passed in the presence of central observers in the legislative party meeting. In this, the MLAs hand over the decision of choosing the next CM to the party's high command. In such a situation, now the Selja camp has increased its hope that if the power to make a decision remains in the hands of the party's high command, then the situation can change and the relatively strong central leadership will not come under the direct pressure of the Hooda camp.
