Babban Sevakram Avathwani, a wholesale fruit seller at Satna Krishi Upaj Mandi in Madhya Pradesh, told Local 18 that chemicals are sprayed on trees to change the color of apples so that the size of the apples increases and they turn red faster. He said that it is important to wash and peel the apples thoroughly before eating them. Apples should be eaten only after removing their layers. He said that apples coming from outside are polished or waxed to make them shine, which is harmful to health.

Babban clarified that this process is like fertilizing, in which chemicals are sprayed on trees so that the apples look red and ripe. The purpose of this process is to make the apples attractive, but it can hurt the health of consumers. He said that if you eat apples without washing or peeling them, it can be dangerous for your health.

He said that waxing is done to make foreign apples look beautiful and to increase their life. Although this process is generally less harmful, it can still harm some people, especially the sick, so always eat apples after peeling them and wash them thoroughly.
Apple varieties available in Satna
A total of four types of apples are sold in Satna, which include American, Black, Delicious, and Kullu Delicious. These apples start rotting in 15-20 days in the apple market, so they are kept in cold storage. Where they maintain freshness for 5-6 months. Then, these apples are sold in summer.
