The Afghanistan Cricket Board has taken a big step for the matches against New Zealand and South Africa. Afghanistan has appointed Ramakrishnan Sridhar, who was the fielding coach of Team India, as the assistant coach of their team. Let us tell you, that R Sridhar has been a first-class cricketer and has played the role of Team India's fielding coach for a long time. He will be in the role of assistant coach in the Afghan team during the only Test match against New Zealand and the three-match ODI series against South Africa. The Afghanistan Cricket Board believes that Sridhar will live up to the role of this assistant coach and the board hopes to have a long-term contract with him in the future.

Coached Team India for 7 years

54-year-old Sridhar has played 35 first-class and 15 List-A matches for India in domestic cricket. He has been the fielding coach of the Indian cricket team in more than 300 international matches including two ICC ODIs and two T20I World Cups. He took over the responsibility of Team India's fielding coach for almost 7 years. After Rahul Dravid became the head coach of Team India in the year 2021, T Dilip was appointed as the fielding coach in his place. He has also worked as the spin bowling coach of Kings XI Punjab in the India Premier League from 2014 to 2017. In the year 2023, under his coaching, he played an important role in taking the California Knights to third place in the US Masters T10 tournament. 

Sridhar is a Level-3 certified coach who has also worked as an assistant coach and spin bowling coach in the Indian Under-19 national team. From 2008 to 2014, Sridhar has worked as an assistant fielding and spin bowling coach at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

The Afghan team is in great form

Former England cricketer Jonathan Trott is currently the head coach of the Afghanistan cricket team. Under Jonathan's coaching, Afghanistan performed brilliantly in the T20 World Cup this year. The Afghan team created a sensation by defeating strong teams like New Zealand and Australia. Now the Afghan team will participate in the only Test against New Zealand from September 9 in Greater Noida.
