New Delhi: The Hindi film ‘Chhaava’ has captivated audiences with its powerful depiction of sacrifice, bravery, and duty, bringing the inspiring story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj to the big screen. The film has received widespread acclaim across all age groups, with youth particularly influenced by the legendary Maratha king’s tale of valor.
Given its historical significance and cultural impact, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has officially appealed to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to grant the film tax-free status.
Why FWICE Seeks Tax Exemption for 'Chhaava'
FWICE believes that Sambhaji Maharaj’s legacy should be known to future generations, and tax exemption would help the film reach a wider audience across Maharashtra and the country.
The appeal aligns with the government’s belief in "Dharmo Rakshati Rakshitah"—a philosophy that the film beautifully portrays through the life and struggles of the great Maratha warrior.
"This movie is not just a historical narrative but a tribute to Sambhaji Maharaj’s ideals. Making it tax-free would encourage more people, especially students and young audiences, to learn about his inspiring story," the FWICE stated.
A Nationwide Reach for a Legendary Tale
While the film is deeply rooted in Maratha history, its message of courage, resilience, and patriotism resonates beyond Maharashtra. The FWICE urges that the film should not just be limited to the state but be promoted nationwide, ensuring that Sambhaji Maharaj’s valor is recognized across India.
