Jaipur. Former CM Ashok Gehlot has launched a big attack on the decision of the Bhajan Lal government of Rajasthan to abolish the new districts created during the previous Congress rule. Gehlot said that these districts were created keeping in mind the administrative point of view. This makes it easier to fulfill the budget announcements. Monitoring is also easy. If this was wrong, then this work should have been done as soon as the government came. Why did it take a year to do this?
Bhajan Lal government has abolished 9 out of 17 districts created during Gehlot rule. All the three divisions have also been abolished. Bhajan Lal government took this decision in the cabinet meeting on Saturday. Since then, there has been a political uproar in Rajasthan. Regarding this issue, former CM Ashok Gehlot today held a press conference at his residence in Jaipur and launched a major attack on Bhajan Lal government.
People had agitated for years for new districts.
Gehlot said that people had agitated for years for new districts. These districts were created for better administration and to provide relief to the common man. But the Bhajan Lal government cancelled important districts without thinking. This decision of the BJP government is not correct. He said that some old bureaucrats are now saying in the media that these districts are not practical. They should not do this. I don't know whether they are afraid or greedy. Many people are afraid and some are greedy for posts.
Every state in the country is adding new districts.
Gehlot said that Madhya Pradesh has less area than us but has more districts. Every state in the country is adding new districts. Along with MP, new districts have been created in Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh. We did complete homework in this direction before creating districts. All the infrastructure was created for that. We strengthened the lower units from the district. We did work like Right to Education, NREGA and Right to Information. He raised the question that what could Bhajanlal Sharma give to the state in one year? Rather, he snatched away the new districts also.
People should protest peacefully and not get violent.
Gehlot said that I did not want to say this so soon. But the situation of the state is very bad in every area. He alleged that crime is on the rise. Rape cases are on the rise. The government is failing everywhere. The government should have given an example of good governance. But now there is a discussion in the country as to why the Rajasthan government is unable to work. We will all sit together on this issue after the national mourning. The people of the state are very angry with this decision. People are coming out on the streets. Gehlot said that I would just like to tell the people that they should protest peacefully. Do not protest violently.
