Jammu: A passenger bus traveling from Delhi to Katra (Vaishno Devi) met with a tragic accident near Manda, under Ramnagar, Jammu. The accident occurred when the driver lost control while taking a turn, causing the bus to plunge into a 25-30 feet deep gorge near Manda Naka, Panthirthi.
Driver Killed, Passengers Rescued
According to reports, the driver lost his life in the accident, while several passengers sustained injuries. Emergency response teams, including Jammu Police, Traffic Police, SDRF, and Fire and Emergency Services, quickly reached the spot to carry out rescue operations.
A police spokesperson confirmed that all 17 passengers onboard were safely evacuated and shifted to GMC Jammu for medical treatment. Fortunately, most passengers suffered minor or no injuries, and their condition is stable.
Rescue Operations Underway
Authorities are working to retrieve the driver’s body, while senior police officers remain at the scene to assess the situation. The incident has raised concerns over road safety on the Delhi-Katra route, prompting calls for stricter traffic regulations and road maintenance.
