Jasprit Bumrah also made his birthday memorable by dismissing Australia's Usman Khawaja. With the dismissal of Khawaja, Jasprit Bumrah has completed his 50 wickets (Test) in this calendar year 2024. Bumrah is the third pacer to take 50 wickets in a calendar year.
The second test match between India and Australia started in Adelaide on 6 December. Australia bowled out India for 180 runs in this day-night test. After this, it was the turn of Indian bowlers. The first day of the match was not good for the Indian bowlers. Only Jaspreet Bumrah could take one wicket. The rest of the Indian bowlers did not get any wickets.
Zaheer Khan took 51 wickets in 2002
Jaspreet Bumrah took his wicket tally to 50 in 2024 by dismissing Usman Khawaja. This is the first time since 2002 that an Indian pacer has taken 50 wickets in a calendar year. Before Jaspreet Bumrah, this feat was achieved by Zaheer Khan. He took 51 Test wickets in 2002.
Kapil Dev holds the Indian record
for taking the most wickets in a calendar year. Kapil Dev took 75 wickets in 1983 and 74 wickets in 1979. Shane Warne holds the world record for taking the most wickets in a calendar year. The Australian spinner took 94 wickets in a calendar year.
