New Delhi. Batsman KL Rahul and reserve wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel will fly to Australia soon. Both will join the India A team in Australia. The second four-day unofficial Test match between India A and Australia A will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from November 7. Both the players are being sent to Australia first so that they can get a chance to spend time on the field in Australia before the five-match Border-Gavaskar series starts on November 22.
Right-handed veteran batsmen KL Rahul and Dhruv Jurel were part of the Indian team for the New Zealand series. Rahul played the opening match of this series but Jurel, who made his debut against England earlier this year, has not got a chance in any match after the return of Rishabh Pant. The Indian team management wants to give every player selected for the tour a chance to spend time on the field to deal with the injury problem. Especially the reserve players because this Border-Gavaskar series will last for seven weeks.
The BCCI's senior selection committee on Tuesday decided to send Rahul and Jurel to Australia. India A team will play the second unofficial Test match against Australia A on Thursday. The Indian team will leave for Australia in two batches to play the Border Gavaskar Trophy. India's tour of Australia is important in terms of the WTC final.
