The last rites of Ram Gopal Mishra, a youth who died in the violence that broke out during the immersion of the Durga idol in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, were performed on Monday afternoon amid heavy police force and tension. Tension still persists in the district. The family of the youth has appealed to the Yogi government for justice. The deceased Ram Gopal's mother Munni Devi said, 'My son is dead, we want justice.' Meanwhile, a named accused has been taken into custody by Bahraich Police. ADG Law and Order Amitabh Yash is camping in Bahraich. Amitabh Yash will hold a meeting at 11 pm on the situation in Bahraich and arrests. STF's Additional SP Satyasen Yadav, Lal Pratap, and DK Shahi have also reached Bahraich. STF has been deployed to arrest the named accused.
It is noteworthy that the police have registered a case against six named and 24 unidentified people in connection with the violence that broke out in Mansoor village of Mahsi tehsil of Bahraich on Sunday. After Mishra's death during the violence, about half a dozen people were injured in stone pelting and firing. The police have detained about 30 people. So far three arrests have been made. As a precaution, internet services are closed in Mahsi tehsil.
After the violence in Bahraich on Sunday, the situation remained tense on Monday. Some people were seen roaming the streets with sticks and iron rods. Some shops and vehicles were also set on fire. Security forces conducted a flag march in the area to maintain law and order. According to eyewitnesses, when the body of Ram Gopal reached Rehua Mansoor village on Monday morning, a crowd of thousands had gathered there. People reached Mahsi tehsil with the body and blocked the road in front of the tehsil by placing the body on the road. A crowd of thousands had gathered there from many nearby villages.

Bahraich SP Vrinda Shukla said that a case has been registered against a person named Salman. According to the police, bullets were fired from his house. He runs a shop at home. He said that the people involved in the incident are being identified and some suspects have been detained.
The violence on Sunday started with a dispute over playing music on loudspeakers during a procession taken out to immerse the idol of Goddess Durga. Ram Gopal Mishra of Rehua Mansoor village was participating in the procession when he was shot. A relative of Mishra said that he was taken to the hospital, where he died during treatment. After the incident, communal tension spread in the area. The procession was stopped in Fakharpur town and some other places.
