New Delhi. Former destructive opener of the Indian cricket team Virender Sehwag has warned the batsmen of Team India. Veeru has said that Indian batsmen need to raise the level of their game. Indian batsmen failed in the Test series against New Zealand. Indian batsmen struggled for runs in front of the visiting team's spinners. Seeing this condition of Team India in their home, the veterans are shocked and upset. They are unable to understand how the expert batsmen of playing spin forgot this art. From Virat Kohli to Rohit Sharma, everyone looked helpless in front of Kiwi spinners.
Advising the Indian batsmen to raise the level of their game against spinners, Virender Sehwag wrote on Instagram, ‘I must support the team as a supporter. But this has been a very poor performance of our team. There is definitely a need to improve the skill of playing spin. Some experiments look good in the shorter format but their unnecessary experimentation in Test cricket was really bad.’
After 24 years, India was whitewashed at home.
New Zealand whitewashed India 3-0 in the third Test played in Mumbai by defeating them by 25 runs. This is the first time since 1999-2000 that the Indian team has been whitewashed in Tests. The team was then defeated by South Africa 2-0. This is the first time that India has lost all the matches of a series of at least three matches. This is India's fifth defeat in the current cycle of WTC. Due to this, there was a big drop in its point percentage (PCT). The team's point percentage slipped from 62.82 to 58.33.
The New Zealand spinner took 37 out of 57 wickets.
Virender Sehwag, famous as the Sultan of Multan, said, "Congratulations to Tom Latham and the New Zealand team for doing what is a dream for every team coming to India. And no one else has won like this." The failure of Indian batsmen to play spin can be gauged from the fact that New Zealand spinners took 37 out of 57 wickets in the series. That too when the first test was played on a pitch that favored fast bowlers. Left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner took 13 wickets in the second test in Pune while Ajaz Patel took 11 wickets in the third test in Mumbai.
