New Delhi: A high-security setup is in place for the oath-taking ceremony of Delhi’s new Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and her Cabinet at Ramlila Maidan on Thursday. Over 25,000 security personnel will be deployed across central, north, and New Delhi areas to ensure safety and smooth proceedings.

The grand ceremony will begin at 11:30 AM at the sprawling Ramlila Maidan, with several top BJP leaders and Chief Ministers from BJP-governed states attending the event.

Security Measures in Place

Security Deployment:
Over 25,000 Delhi Police personnel and 15 paramilitary force companies will maintain strict security.
5,000 officers, along with paramilitary teams, will guard Ramlila Maidan and nearby areas.
2,500 high-security points have been identified for heavy deployment.

Snipers on high-rise buildings for surveillance.
AI-powered facial recognition CCTV cameras will monitor activity in and around the venue.
Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs), SWAT teams, PCR vans, and anti-sabotage units will be stationed at key points.

A senior police official told PTI that multiple layers of security barricades will ensure law and order until the event concludes.

Traffic and Security Coordination

Traffic Restrictions & Diversions:
Delhi Police has been preparing for two days to manage the massive influx of vehicles expected at the event. Special traffic diversions will be implemented around Ramlila Maidan, and designated parking areas will be allocated for visitors.

Emergency Response Teams on Alert:

  • Delhi Commissioner of Police Sanjay Arora inspected the venue on Wednesday to review security preparations.
  • Coordination with intelligence agencies is ongoing to prevent any untoward incidents.
  • Commandos and bomb disposal squads will be on standby.
