The Health Ministry has taken a big decision amid the doctors' strike across the country. The central government has ordered to increase security by 25% in all medical hospitals. At the same time, the ministry has also ordered to formation of a committee for the safety of healthcare workers. The committee which will be formed under the chairmanship of DGHS will take suggestions on the problems of doctors and healthcare workers. Basic problems of doctors like rest room, CCTV facilities, all these will be rectified. Marshals will also be increased based on need. An order has been given to register an FIR within 6 hours regarding the violence case in the hospital. This committee will have representatives of all important stakeholders including the state government.
Resident doctors' demands are not justified - Health Ministry
Representatives of many resident doctors met a senior official of the Health Ministry today. 26 states already have laws for the protection of healthcare workers. In which there is a provision of punishment from 3 years to 10 years. The government explained to the doctors that the ordinance would not be of any use. The demands of resident doctors are not justified. Whatever the doctors are demanding is not covered in the laws of the states. The case of West Bengal is condemnable and action will be taken under the law of rape and murder. If the doctors remain adamant on their demands like this, then action can be taken against the doctors based on law and court orders.
What will happen by forming a committee?
The ministry has asked the protesting doctors to return to work. The ministry says that at this time the cases of dengue and malaria are increasing, so there is a great need for doctors at this time. The ministry has assured to form a committee to suggest all measures to ensure the safety of doctors. 26 states have passed laws for the safety of health workers. Senior Vice President of Delhi Medical Association, Dr. Sunil Singhal said that we are still working in the public interest. We are doing emergency duty. He said that we do not need state law but CPA. He also said that we need a safe environment to work. On the government forming a committee, he said that what will happen by forming a committee, this has happened before.
