Badlapur sexual abuse: After the incident of sexual abuse of two girls in Badlapur, the opposition is on the offensive. It is targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Maharashtra government. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Supriya Sule on Wednesday targeted the Maharashtra government and demanded the resignation of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Fadnavis is the Home Minister of Maharashtra. Attacking the Shinde government, Sule claimed that the government was busy breaking parties, so it did not have time for the common people.
Massive protest on Tuesday
Let us tell you that massive protests broke out in Badlapur town on Tuesday when angry parents, local residents, and others blocked railway tracks and vandalized the school where two female students were sexually assaulted by a male assistant last week. The protesters demanded strict punishment against the accused, who was arrested on August 17. The state government on Tuesday ordered the suspension of three police officers, including a senior police inspector, for alleged negligence of duty in the investigation of the sexual assault of two girls.
Supriya is an MP from Baramati
Sule said, "If the education minister had taken action immediately after the incident in the school, there would have been no need for agitation. This shows that this government is not at all serious about the safety of women. The government is busy breaking houses, and parties using the Income Tax Department and Enforcement Directorate." Sule, an MP from Baramati, criticized Fadnavis over the incident and asked what happened to the Shakti law that was brought earlier. He said, "The Home Minister, who spends more time in Delhi than in Mumbai, should give an explanation on this incident and resign as a moral responsibility."
'If there was no movement, the incident would not have come to light'
Questioning the delay in filing the FIR, Sule sought to know why an inquiry was not initiated against the police inaction. The NCP working president said, "If people had not agitated, this incident would not have happened." She alleged that the law and order situation in the state was deteriorating and crimes against women were on the rise. Sule said that the Badalpur school incident should have been looked at with more sensitivity.
