Emphasis is laid on eating fruits since childhood. Fruits are the gurumantra to stay healthy. It is a natural food which gives instant energy to the body. Fruits are considered as medicine to control many diseases. Everyone should eat fruits but their quantity may vary according to age and body. Different fruits should also be eaten according to weight. There is a rule to eat fruits but people eat them anytime thinking they are healthy which is wrong.  


Dietitian Satnam Kaur says that eating fruits every day strengthens immunity and keeps many diseases away. It also improves digestion. Weight remains under control, blood sugar does not increase, heart also remains healthy. All these benefits of eating fruits are available only to those people who do not have any disease. Fruits contain fiber which keeps digestion good and enzymes convert protein into energy due to which the body is always full of energy. They have very less calories and no fat, due to which blood pressure and cholesterol remain under control. Fruits also have high water content due to which the body does not fall prey to dehydration and the skin glows. 

How much fruit should men and women eat? According to
the United States Department of Agriculture, fruits should be eaten according to height, weight, age, physical activity and health condition. A healthy woman should eat 1.5 to 2 cups of fruit a day. Whereas, men can eat 2 to 2.5 cups of fruit a day. For people who are above 60 years of age and do not have any disease, 2 cups of fruit is enough for them.

If you want to lose or gain weight, then eat fruits like this
People who want to lose weight should eat only one fruit a day. That means the fruit should have 50 to 70 calories. Such people should avoid eating sweet fruits like mango, apple, banana, sapota, grapes. On the other hand, people who want to gain weight can eat more than one fruit. Actually, fruits contain natural sugar. If this sugar is not burnt, it turns into fats, which leads to weight gain.

Diabetics should eat carefully
People who are diabetic should eat only selected fruits because they contain sugar which can increase the blood sugar level immediately. Patients suffering from this disease can eat apple, pear, pomegranate, guava, cherry, strawberry, orange, jamun and dragon fruit. They should not eat grapes, banana, papaya, sapota and mango. 

Kidney patients should note
that people who are suffering from kidney disease should not eat fruits containing potassium. Banana, orange, dates, apricot, watermelon, melon, papaya, kiwi, mango, pomegranate and seasonal fruits are not good for such people. Such people should also not drink juice. This can increase their creatinine. Kidney patients can only eat apples.

Do not eat fruits on an empty stomach
. There are some rules for eating fruits. Fruits should never be eaten on an empty stomach. Doing so can cause acidity. They should be eaten after breakfast at around 12 noon. By doing so, the nutrients present in them are absorbed in the body. They should not be eaten in the evening because at this time the metabolic rate of our body decreases, due to which fat cannot be burnt and the sugar present in them gets converted into fat and gets stored in the body and weight increases. Sometimes there is difficulty in digesting them also. 

Diarrhea due to eating too much fruit According to
Medical News Today, fruits contain high amount of sugar and fiber. Eating too much fruit also increases the fiber, due to which many times people become victims of diarrhea. Fruits should always be eaten in balanced quantities. Also, never eat cut fruits sold in the market. Some people take cut fruits to the office. This gives bacteria a chance to grow and the nutritional elements of the fruit are lost. Fruits should be cut and eaten immediately.  

The right way to eat them
Some people put chaat masala on fruits. This should not be done. This can increase the amount of sodium in the body. Apart from this, some people like to eat fruits with vegetables, roti and rice. This is also wrong. Roti or rice contains carbohydrates. Whereas fruits contain fiber. Apart from this, there is a cooked food and a raw one. In such a situation, the digestive process gets affected. Fruits should always be eaten 1 or 2 hours before eating. You can eat 1 apple before exercise. Some people like to eat mixed fruit chaat. This is also wrong. Only one fruit should be eaten at a time. On the other hand, eating fruits with milk or drinking shakes is harmful for health. This can cause stomach upset, bloating or gas problems. Eat fruits as is, do not drink their juice.
