In an interview with the Times, Aktel said that the wedding date has not been decided yet. He also said that he knew his future daughter-in-law even before his son Naga Chaitanya. Talking about the wedding date, he said, "We will not get married immediately. We had decided to get engaged in a hurry. On getting engaged in a hurry, the actor said that we did this because it was an auspicious day and Chaitanya and Shobhita were very sure that they wanted to get married, so we said, let's do this." Only family members attended this engagement.
Father also married twice
Shobhita's parents and sister and Naga Chaitanya's mother who is Nagarjuna's first wife Lakshmi Daggubati were present at the engagement. Lakshmi and Nagarjuna got married to each other in 1984 and got divorced in 1990. Nagarjuna married Amala Akkineni in 1992.
