Tips To Prevent Diabetes: Diabetes is increasing very rapidly these days. It was once believed that the risk of diabetes is less in young age, but now a large number of youth are falling prey to this serious disease. According to health experts, type 2 diabetes is spreading like an epidemic in India. Its main reason is changing lifestyle, wrong eating habits and lack of physical activity. Earlier this disease was seen only in the elderly and adults, but now the youth are also getting affected by it. It can also affect the coming generations.
Dr. Rahul Chaura, Senior Endocrinologist of Yashoda Super Specialty Hospital, Kaushambi, UP, said that cases of type 2 diabetes are increasing rapidly among the youth. Excessive consumption of junk food and sugary foods increases insulin resistance in people's body, which can cause diabetes at a young age. Lack of physical activity and excessive stress increase the risk of diabetes. If people make small changes in their habits and stay away from bad habits, then they can avoid serious diseases like diabetes.
5 major reasons for diabetes in young age
Consumption of junk food- Nowadays, the youth are consuming fast food and junk food excessively. These foods contain more sugar and oil, which increase insulin resistance in the body, which increases the risk of type 2 diabetes. Consuming more sugary drinks can also cause this serious disease.
Excessive stress and workload- Mental stress and work pressure are also increasing this disease. Mental stress and work pressure are also being seen in today's youth. Most of the youth are often under stress due to studies, job and social pressure, which can cause hormonal changes in their body. This can also increase the risk of diabetes.
Genetic factors- If someone in the family has type 2 diabetes, then the risk may increase in the next generation as well. For example, young people whose parents have diabetes are at a higher risk of this disease. In such a situation, to avoid diabetes, it is important to get yourself checked from time to time and consult a doctor.
Lack of physical activity- Nowadays youth use smartphones, video games and streaming services more, due to which physical activities have reduced. Spending more time on the screen does not give time for exercise and outdoor activities. This leads to weight gain and increases the risk of insulin resistance, which is a major cause of diabetes.
Not getting a checkup done from time to time- Many times people notice the symptoms of diabetes, but they ignore it. In such a condition, many people move from prediabetic to diabetic stage. In such a situation, all people must get their health checkup done in 6 months or a year and if there is prediabetes, then try to reverse it.
