Satna: The festival of Karva Chauth holds special importance for women. It also has great religious significance. During this fast, women stay hungry and thirsty the whole day and pray for the long life of their husbands. In such a situation, it becomes very important to eat the right food and know how to break the fast. Giving information to Local 18, certified dietician and fitness coach Avadhsharan Kushwaha has given important advice related to the diet of women during Karva Chauth.
What to eat a day before?
According to dieticians, women should keep their bodies hydrated a day before Karva Chauth. For this, it is beneficial to consume an adequate amount of water and coconut water, lemonade, buttermilk, etc. Also, it is advisable to include complex carbohydrates in the diet. Foods like oats, ragi, whole grains, and porridge are digested slowly and provide the body with the necessary energy during the fast.
It is beneficial to eat
dry fruits like cashews, almonds, walnuts, and pistachios a day before the fast. The mono and polyunsaturated fats (MUFA-PUFA) present in them provide energy to the body during the fast. You can also consume them by making a powder and mixing it in hot milk. Dieticians suggest that for vitamins and minerals, consume fruits like oranges, pomegranates, kiwis, and papaya. This will maintain the level of potassium in the body and there will be no deficiency of vitamin C.
The right way to break the fast:
Do not eat fried and spicy food while breaking the fast. Instead, drink light beverages like mixed vegetable soup, coconut water, and lemonade. Apart from this, light foods like dal cheela, oats, and makhane ki kheer are considered appropriate for breaking the fast.
