Pregnancy is the most important stage in every woman's life. In this, the woman goes through many ups and downs physically and mentally. Physical changes are visible but women also have to face many mental changes. One of these is the pregnancy brain, which is also called the pregnancy brain and mummy brain. Although this does not happen to everyone during pregnancy, but some women face this problem during pregnancy.

Senior gynecologist Nupur Gupta says that it is not necessary that every pregnant woman experiences a pregnancy brain, but some women face this condition during pregnancy. In this, women get a condition like brain fog in their brain, due to which they have trouble concentrating on anything or remembering anything. Also known as "mummy brain", it usually starts in the first trimester and subsides after the birth of the child.

What is a pregnancy brain?

The brain-related problem due to hormonal changes during pregnancy is called pregnancy brain. In this, the woman has trouble remembering something or focusing on something. This does not happen to every woman, but to some women. It includes forgetting things, having trouble doing multiple tasks at the same time, and having trouble focusing on something while talking, even though this had never happened before.

When does this start

Pregnancy starts at the time of changes in brain hormones, a woman can experience this in the first trimester itself. In this, she may experience forgetting even the phone number, forgetting where she kept the keys somewhere. Many times women can also feel depressed in this, all these can be brain-related problems.

Neuroscientists say that the structure and function of a woman's brain actually changes during pregnancy. Studies have shown that the grey matter in women's brains shrinks during pregnancy to make room for more efficient connections and brain circuits. These particular areas allow for better social cognition and caretaking behavior, which is why women experience increased love, responsibility, and attachment to their babies during this time.
