Tight security has been put in place in Rajasthan's Udaipur after the death of a student injured in a knife attack ( Udaipur Knife Attack ), as the knife attack led to protests by right-wing groups and communal violence (Udaipur Violence). A 15-year-old boy, who was stabbed by a fellow student, battled between life and death for four days after he was stabbed to death by a fellow student.

There is tight security in Udaipur after the boy's death and mobile internet services have been shut down. Inspector General of Police Ajaypal Lamba has confirmed that the boy's body has been taken to the mortuary for post-mortem, after which it will be handed over to his family.

Udaipur Collector Arvind Poswal said shortly before his death, his sister had tied a rakhi on his wrist in the hospital as it was Raksha Bandhan that day. The boy, Devraj, was attacked outside his school on Friday, following which right-wing groups staged protests and set vehicles on fire, and vandalized a shop.

The accused was arrested and his house was demolished

The accused student has been detained and his father has been arrested. Later, the house where the accused minor's family lived was demolished by the district administration using JCB machines in the presence of police personnel on Saturday. Officials alleged that the house was built on forest land.

Communal riots broke out after the incident

On Friday, the mob set cars on fire and pelted stones. According to the police, members of some right-wing groups gathered in Madhuban to protest the stabbing. Following this, the mob pelted stones and set three to four cars on fire. As tension escalated in the evening, markets in Bapu Bazar, Hathipol, Ghantaghar, Chetak Circle, and adjoining areas were closed. Stones were also pelted at a shopping mall, damaging the glass gates of shops.

Authorities ordered all schools to close

The additional police force has been deployed to maintain law and order. In response to the unrest, authorities ordered the closure of all schools and imposed prohibitory orders to ban public gatherings. Due to the law and order situation, all government and private schools in Udaipur have been ordered to remain closed till further notice, Poswal said.
